Dr. Lauten

Dr. Lauten is a native of Mobile, AL and a graduate of Vanderbilt University where he was summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He attended South Alabama College of Medicine on Scholarship and later returned to Vanderbilt for his residency in Ophthalmology.

He completed a 2-year Vitreoretinal Surgery fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During his stay in Birmingham, he was the attending for the Callahan Eye Emergency Department and Birmingham Veteran Affairs Medical Center. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and presently resides in Hattiesburg, MS with his wife, Anna, and his three daughters Murphy, Lanier, and Mary Wright.

Dr. Thomley

Dr. Martin Thomley is a native of Birmingham, AL and summa cum laude graduate of Auburn University. He attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine and was the recipient of the Merit Scholarship. In addition, he received the Scholastic Excellence Award and was a member of the exclusive Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society.

He subsequently trained at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL for residency in Ophthalmology. Bascom Palmer is widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best, ophthalmology training program in the world and is ranked #1 for Ophthalmology in the United States by US News and World Report. While at Bascom Palmer, Dr. Thomley excelled and served as Chief Resident and Instructor, and also completed Fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery. For the past 20 years, Dr. Thomley has been serving on faculty at University of Alabama at Birmingham seeing patients while also training residents and retina fellows. He received the Outstanding Clinical Faculty Award and has also been honored with the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award.

Dr. Regan

Cornelius “Neil” E. Regan Jr. is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Regan then moved to Gainesville, Florida to pursue undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology.

He returned to New Orleans to work at the Neuroscience Center at LSUHSC where he worked in various labs researching neurological and ophthalmological diseases focusing on disorders of the retina. Afterwards, he earned his medical degree at the Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans. Post-graduate training consisted of an internship in general surgery at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA and a residency in Ophthalmology at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. Following his residency, Dr. Regan completed his fellowship at Charles Retina Institute located in Germantown, TN, just outside of Memphis.
